I was raised on the Big Island of Hawai'i, yet managed to spend almost every summer here - on the Kenai Peninsula for commercial fishing in Cook Inlet. I've been writing poetry and stories the moment I saw my own handwriting. HA! My stepmom is a music teacher in Seward, so that influenced me a lot. Being around instruments is very important for children.

I remember my first favorite song - "Domo Arigato - Mr. Roboto!" Man, I loved that song! I was about 5 - :) I started playing music when Bryan Lazer (from Forrest Folk) came into my life in 1998 or so. He taught me how to write my own songs. He's still teaching me...

The first band I belonged to was River Sage - Lori Engler and I got together and sang at local coffee houses and local talent shows. We used to come onto Gramma Lu's Show on KWJG/KMJG for the Gramma Lu What's Love Got to do With It? Show on Friday nights.

That was where I had the idea to have a local music only radio show - back in 1999 (I think?) - I threw it out there, but no one bit, so I knew I had to do it. Now, it's amazing! It's so much fun to meet these awesome local artists and to get to hang out with so much talent. From the visual artists to the authors - songwriters & singers - they are amazing!!! Yeah - so...I'm where I'm supposed to be - I know this. :) I look forward to meeting you - I hope you help to support local artists - why not? They kick so much butt and sometimes it doesn't even cost a dime to support them - go out and listen to live music, while you're sipping tea or coffee - or eating awesome food while listening to live music! It's everywhere - we just have to choose to do it!

Aloha - I'm currently in an awesome band - SoMeTHiNG eLSe - we have so much fun on and off the stage - I'm also working for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District as a tutor at K-Beach Elementary and I'm blogging for the Kenai Peninsula College website - check that out at www.kpc.alaska.edu it's pretty cool. Coping with homework, tests, work, due dates, dirty diapers, dirty dishes and a family of 4 to feed...is catching up to me - I have one more semester of this and I should have my bachelor's so I'm really trying hard to get through this school year. I'm bummed that being so busy takes me away from my passion - music...but...I know it's for the best. I look forward to hearing from you - I'm currently looking into grants to help promote local artists with help. It would be great if this could turn into a community organization - not totally on me...but, I'll carry it as long as I can. :) Aloha
