Every week, I try to attend art functions so that I can keep you updated on the cool happenings of our state. I haven't
been able to make it out of the Kenai Peninsula area, except to Anchorage once and a while. If you have information on upcoming
events, contact me and I'll see if I can schedule it in. OR - if you attend an art's function and want others to hear about
it - email me and we'll post it! Aloha!!!

Sent by Patricia Forkner on 3/6/06 - I atttended the Saturday concert at KPC and, damn, was it goooood for my soul. Their
vocal range is outrageous! It was amazing to see a Nordic indigenous group sing songs in rap, ragae, and blues style. Many
thanks to Pamyua for visiting us on the Kenai Peninsula!

Nikiski High School - DANCE PERFORMANCE
By Patricia Forkner
I attended Friday's recital of the Nikiski High Dancers. Their guest performers were the Star Sensations, Encore Dance
Academy Dancers, and the Peninsula Artists in Motion. This was by far, the best dance performance I've seen on the Kenai Peninsula.
From the amazing costumes, professional props, and unique choreography, I was in awe! Many thumbs up to those who put forth
all their time and hours of hard work. My favorites were Kacky Wells Creatures of Nuance (I loved the butterflys and
dragonfly and how the girls danced as a caterpillar; there was so much happening on stage I missed stuff but it all blended
so well to make an insect world; Paul Morin's violin music was charming), Phil Morin's Swing was so fun to watch, Cara
Haakanson and Chris Morin's Tied Up! was so humorous and the political portrayal it pronounced was so clever, and lastly
Megan Mazurek's Hot! was bouncing, smokin', and on fire!
February 18th

HOMER'S FIRST FRIDAY
Trish and I went to Homer and had a blast. We started out at Picture Alaska art gallery, where I was introduced to Sylva's
work. I couldn't stop thinking about her amazing Octopus that the gallery has framed.
We also got to hang out with Emerging Artist Karrie Hill who donated a print for the show - MAHALO KARRIE! Her picture is
on the "home" section.
Homer Council on the Arts
Where's the LIVE Music?
We found ourselves @ Kharacters partying down with Big J and the M Brothers (scheduled for the show in April). Sam M &

John of Three Legged Mule hung out while the others hogged the stage. He didn't seem to mind, though - seems to be a very
easy going guy! :) They all jammed later!
